Art Show Details
Art show space is available in units of panels or half tables. A panel is 4' wide by 4' high and is made of pegboard. Materials for hanging artwork will be provided by the convention. Table space is approximately 3' long by 2.5' deep, half a standard hotel table. Requests for more than 3 units of space must be cleared with the Art Show directors in advance. Art may either be mailed in or brought to the convention by the artist.

Art Show Rules
- Only original work or signed-and-numbered limited edition copies.
- All art must have a science fiction or fantasy theme.
- All art must be matted or mounted in a way suitable for hanging to insure that the artwork is undamaged during display.
- The art show will collect a 10% commission on the sale of any art. There will be a $5 per-piece hanging fee on Not For Sale artwork.
- Agenting is permitted. All agents must have a letter of permission from the artist to display the art in question at Gaylaxicon. A copy of this letter will be retained by the art show, and the payment for the art sold will be sent directly to the artist, not the agent.
- Works judged by the Art Show Staff to have pornographic and/or libelous content in regard to known persons and/or to well known characters will not be accepted. In addition, any copyright issues with well known characters, fictional or not is the responsibility of the artist, not the convention. The decisions of the art show dictators directors in these matters are final.
- All artwork must be able to withstand reasonable, careful handling by the Art Show Staff. We want your work to go home with the buyer in perfect condition. Please help us by not sending fragile artwork! If you do send fragile work, then please observe the shipper packing guidelines, and use lots of bubble wrap.
- Two-dimensional works must be matted, mounted or framed to aid in hanging. Stick-on plastic hangars on unmatted work are not acceptable.
- Jewelry should be displayed in the artist's own display case, and the case placed on a table. Enough table space must be reserved to hold the display case. If you have a lockable case, please give one set of keys to the artshow directors, so that we can get to pieces to sell.
- All artwork must be clearly labeled. Please include the title of the piece, your name and address.
- Artists are responsible for their own insurance. Check your homeowner's policy; you may have appropriate coverage there. We will take reasonable care of your artwork in the show, but the convention can not acquire the expensive extra insurance for the Art Show.
- Once entered in the show, the conditions of sale (minimum bid, not-for-sale, etc.) may not be changed. No artwork may be withdrawn from the Art Show early.
- There will be no photography or video recording of any kind in the Art Show unless cleared by the Art Show Directors in advance. The artist or agent must be present and consent to any photography or recording.
- The judgment of the Art Show Staff and Directors in all matters of the Art Show is final.
- Any art with three or more bids will go to voice auction at a time and date to be determined buy the Art Show Director and Convention Chair. All art with only one or two bids at the close of show is sold to the highest bidder. If demand indicates the need and time and space permitting, Gaylaxicon may hold a second auction for items with three or more bids prior to the final day of the convention.
- During the open hours of the show, any work that has no bid (and is not listed as "Not For Sale") may be purchased for the quick sale price. The art show staff should be consulted for quick sale purchases.
- Mail-in art is accepted, so long as it conforms with the rules written above and is received by Monday October 6, 2008. There will be a $5 surcharge for handling of mailed-in art or every 4' wide by 4' high panel or 3' long by 2.5' deep table needed to display art. A diagram of how you want your art displayed is highly recommended. The artist or artist's representative must send return postage and mailing labels along with the art. RETURN ADDRESSES MUST BE A VALID STREET ADDRESS. Although we will attempt to use the artist preferred shipper, final shipper(s) will be based on what is most feasible for the Convention. While the Gaylaxicon staff will take all precautions possible, Gaylaxicon is not liable for any damage that may occur to art in shipping.
- Art Show will be open Friday October 10, 2008 through Monday October 13, 2008. The hours of the Art Show and the time and date of the Art Auction(s) will be posted when finalized.
